I've been busy though! I've spent the past 3 months creating products, branding, websites, etc for @green.witch.apothecary and all of my energy has been focused on that IG page. .

Now that I'm off the ground running with the new business, along with a good start of followers and steady orders coming in, I'll be able to start posting on this page a little more frequently again. I'd like to keep this one going for my own personal blog/writing/photos of kids that I cant get away with on the Green Witch Apothecary business page. 💛

System-abusers really rub me the wrong way. Every once in awhile, we have someone who tries to take advantage of our generosity and abuse it to their advantage. .
.
It takes a lot before I'll speak up about these injustices, because it's usually not worth my stress and time, but at some point, I have to stand up for myself and the business, or people will use and abuse and walk all over you if you let them
.
In this particular situation an employee felt that they were owed and entitled to an entire month of PTO their first year on the job. They got mad when I finally said "No" to a request for another 3 additional days off.
.
Sadly, this employee lacks the personal awareness to realize that no one else even takes nearly half that amount of time off. We are a team environment where everyone has to work together and cover for one another when people are out. We simply wouldnt be able to keep the business afloat if everyone was taking a month or more off every year.
.
So I drew a line and I said no. And you know what? This employee actually became angry about it, saying she was entitled to as much PTO as she wanted to take since it was unlimited, even at the expense of the business and her fellow teammates. Even though she regularly misses performance goals and leaves her work a mess when she does leave, or regularly has clients angry and upset. .
I asked her where we draw the line with this? Next week when she demands an entire month off? Or when she wants 2 months off? How is this fair to everyone else? How can we be expected to keep a business up and running for everyone else to have a job to go to everyday? .
.
Sometimes you just have to stand up for yourself, and your other employees, even when you shouldn't have to. It's a sad truth that people like this employee exist at all, but that's the world we live in.
.
Do any of you ever have to deal with these system-abusers? They really ruin a good thing for everyone else, especially when everyone else is being fair and reliable about it.
